My dad (John Lindquist) grew up in the United Methodist church in Kansas and my mom (Elaine Lindquist) was raised Presbyterian in Colorado. When they were transferred by Caterpillar to Peoria, they fell in love with the Morton United Methodist Church–their home away from home. Many of the people they met in church during that time continue to be their dearest friends today. My brother, John, and I have many fond memories, too, from growing up in such a supportive church community. We will always hold dear the former church building on Carol Street, as it was the site of our baptisms, confirmations, marriage to my husband John Walters 20 years ago by Pastor Gary Bass, and the baptism of our four children. Yet we realize it is only a structure and what means most is the connections we have made to a group of very loving and kind people of all ages and the wonderful outreach and education provided by our ministry team. Thanks for asking!
