These ministries give attention to local, national, and world ministries of compassion, justice, and advocacy.

LIBERIA:  Overseas Missions

Our church family has become partners with the village of Saclepea in Liberia to build a church building and a school building, and both buildings are now completed and in use. We provide annual scholarships for the elementary students.  Currently, we are partnering in the construction of a youth  center in Ghanta where the youth population is large and the needs are many. Our gifts combined with the Liberians’ initiative are able to do incredible good.

This is a ministry team made up of small groups who do mission work in Morton, Peoria, and throughout Illinois. Several of these groups have partnered with Loaves & Fish, We Care for the needs of families, disaster recovery, church camp maintenance, organizations with youth, assisting with older adult needs and others.  New groups are always forming and your talents are appreciated.

FOOD COLLECTION:  Local Missions

Our Morton UMC church family collects food for our local pantries and serves monthly at Community Harvest to distribute food. Collection barrels are located in the gymnasium, near the northwest doors.

COVENANT MISSIONARY:  Overseas Missions in China

We give our prayer and financial support to the over-seas mission work of Connie Wieck, a United Methodist missionary to China.  Click here for a brief message from Connie.

During Advent, individuals and families take name tags from our Christmas Giving Tree and purchase age appropriate gifts for children and families needing help during the Christmas season.  Through caring in this way, we share Christs love with others in the community.

BLOOD DRIVE:  Local Mission

In cooperation with the American Red Cross our church sponsors a blood drive.  Our next blood drive is scheduled for June 9, 2014, in the gymnasium.

CROP WALK:  Local and Overseas Missions

Each year, our church family joins with other churches in a community fundraising walk. This walk supports the work of the Church World Service and our community food pantries.

SNACKPAC:  Local Missions

We deliver a weekly pack of food for elementary students who may need weekend snacks. Donations for this project are always accepted!  Volunteers pack these bags once a month.  Let us know if you would like to get involved.
